So you’ve become a member of Cleaning Network Worldwide, filled out your profile and have been matched with an employer who would like to interview you.
Awesome! Congratulations!
But suddenly, your palms start to sweat, your heart begins to race and you find yourself wondering, “Am I even prepared for this interview?”
No need to worry! We’ve got five tips for helping you make the best impression during your interview.
1. Research the Company You’re Interviewing With
If you can walk into an interview and be able to talk freely and ask thoughtful questions about the company, that will make a great impression. Knowing things like what the company values, what skills and traits they look for in candidates, and the products and services they offer, will give you a competitive edge on other candidates. Also, knowing key players in the company, especially of the person interviewing you, will say a lot about your attention to detail.
2. Clean Up Your Social Media Act
Believe it or not, even if you nail an interview but have a questionable social media presence, employers won’t hire you. If your social media pages are public, make sure there is nothing on there you wouldn’t want your parents or child to see. It needs to be as PG as possible, making sure it doesn’t reflect poorly on your character. What you post online says a lot about who you are, and employers will take what they see seriously.
3. Rest, and Rest Well
The night before an interview can definitely make a person feel anxious. But getting a good night’s sleep will help you to be on top of your game the next day. Studies show the brain is more aware and can process information more quickly when a person gets a full eight hours of sleep. Without it, even the most prepared candidate can come across forgetful and sloppy. Things like not drinking or eating after 9 pm, turning off all screens an hour before bedtime and taking time to wind down can help you relax into a deep sleep.
4. Give Yourself Enough Time to Get Ready
You don’t want to feel rushed the morning of your interview. The night before do as many things as you can to save yourself time the next day. Things like choosing your outfit (something professional, clean and not wrinkled), getting your breakfast prepped, getting your kids things ready if someone is watching them, are all ways to get up and start the day productively. Also, make sure to wake up a little earlier than you normally would to give yourself time for things to go wrong that might need your attention.
5. Bring Copies of Your Resume and Letters of Recommendation
Having clean copies of both your resume and letters of recommendation are vital for an interview. Keeping them in a folder to ensure they stay wrinkle free will help make sure the documents are in good shape. It also will make you look professional if you pull out your folder to pass over the documents. It will show your employer that you took an extra step to make sure you were presentable, which will show that you pay attention to detail and are a dedicated employee.
Follow these five steps and you’ll be well on your way to a great interview! Don’t forget to check out our other blogs for further education. And good luck!
